Illustrated by Peter H. Reynolds
Nervous about the first day of school, Judy declares the first day of school a bad day. Judy gets assigned next to a boy that disgusts her, at first, but then he becomes her friend. She then discovers that she kind of likes her new surroundings. She gets assigned to make a me collage. Judy and her friends dive in into this project through out the book. They look back on their experiences in the book and come up with objects that represent them. Judy finds out by the end of the book that life is what you make it and you cannot let your mood determine the greatness value of your day. This book is excellent pick for children. It teaches symbolism, problem management, and not judging people by their first impressions. Definitely worth it for any collection. A must read for anytime you want a good laugh or want to see life through a third grader's perspective.
