This picture book is very realistic as it depicts many influences we see today. For example, one of the influences this picture book shows is an African American male and a white female that are friends. This is the story of two friends, Molly and Ben, both with unique families who share a two family home. They are very close best friends; they walk to school together, wear same clothes, sit together at lunch and even share a birthday party. When they decide to buy a tent, it causes them to fight over which tent is better, because they both feel they are in the right. They decide to buy each other a birthday present, which is a sleeping bag with their favorite thing on it. When they are together and alone with their sleeping bags, they come to the conclusion that each other was right and that they don’t want to fight anymore over material items.
