Lilly the mouse loves school, she especially idolizes her teacher Mr. Slinger, but when she comes to school flaunting her new purple plastic purse that "played a jaunty tune when it was opened", she interrupts Mr. Slinger's lesson which lead to the consequence of Lilly getting her purse taken away for the day. Lilly gets revenge by sneaking a mean drawing into Mr. Slinger's book bag , only to open her purse to find a note from Mr. Slinger stating "Today was a difficult day. Tomorrow will be better." This made her realize that her teacher is truly not mean at all and that she needs to wait her turn to share things, and not in the middle of class. Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse both written and illustrated by Kevin Henkes, would be a great introductory book for teaching children to be patient and establish good manners in the classroom.
