Everybody knows the story of the disappearance of Amelia Earhart, but do they know the story of her life. Amelia Earhart was the first woman to fly almost the whole way around the world before she disappeared in the Pacific Ocean. She had an exciting life before that happened, too. In the book, A Picture Book of Amelia Earhart by David A. Adler and illustrated by Jeff Fisher, tells the fantastic tale of this brave pilot and how she got to flying around the world. The book explains the life of Earhart in a kid friendly way. Starting with when she was born and how she was different than the other girls when she was a kid. Being different is something that a lot of kids can relate to and makes the life of Earhart more relatable to kids. The book then goes through her life as a beginning pilot to when she was accomplishing great achievements. The words are coupled with beautiful painted pictures that expand on the story. This book is a definite must-have in a children’s library collection. | BIBLIO: 1998,Holiday House, Ages 6 to 10, $15.95. REVIEWER: Alyssa Daney FORMAT: Picture Book |
